Perfect Day Beanie (ENG)

€4.90

The Perfect Day Beanie is the ultimate everyday beanie worked with a double folded brim for added warmth and coziness.

The beanie is a really quick and fun project to knit, it’s all worked in Stockinette stitch bottom-up on 4 mm / US6 needles with one strand of fingering weight merino together with two strands of lace weight silk mohair to give it a subtle fuzzy sheen. You can also work the beanie with a single strand of DK weight yarn, this is the perfect stash buster for any random skeins you might have left from other projects!

Sizes:
One size.

Finished garment measurements:

Brim circumference: 49 cm / 18.5”.

The beanie is designed to have about 3-6 cm negative ease as the fabric will stretch out a bit when worn.

Tip: If the beanie feels too tight you can soak it and gently stretch it out while it's damp to increase the circumference. If the beanie feels too loose, you can sew in a see-through elastic thread (often found in the jewellery making section in craft shops) to help tighten the brim.

Gauge:

18 sts x 29 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” on 4 mm / US6 needles in Stockinette stitch holding 1 strand of merino (fingering weight yarn) and 2 strands of mohair (lace weight yarn) together, or with 1 strand of DK weight yarn, after blocking.

Needles:
4 mm / US6 circular needles 40-60 cm / 16-24” (or longer ones for Magic Loop technique), and 4 mm / US6 double-pointed needles for crown shaping if you’re not using Magic Loop technique.

Notions:
Stitch markers, tapestry needle.

Sample knitted with yarn:

50 g Filcolana Arwetta (80% superwash merino, 20% nylon - 210 m / 230 yds / 50 g) in color Ice Blue 340

together with 25 g Isager (75% kid mohair, 25% silk - 212 m / 232 yds / 25 g) in color 41

together with 25 g Knitting For Olive Silk Mohair (70% mohair, 30% silk - 225 m / 246 yds / 25g) in color Ice Blue.

The beanie is worked holding one strand of merino together with two strands of mohair.

Suggested yarn:

You can work the Perfect Day Beanie with 200 m / 210 yds fingering weight yarn (1 strand) held together with 400 m / 420 yds of lace weight yarn (2 strands) held together (3 strands all together).

Or, you can use the following:

-220 m / 230 yds of 1 strand of DK weight yarn

-420 m / 430 yds of 2 strands of fingering weight yarn held together

-800 m / 820 yds of 4 strands of lace weight yarn together
